Habits that major cause of Heartburn

Habits that major cause of Heartburn:
Heartburn is a feeling of burning in the upper part of the abdomen and lower part of the chest area, sometimes accompanied by a bitter or sour taste in the throat and mouth, and this pain often interferes with the daily routine of a person and the causes of stomach acidity are usually related to wrong practices.
When eating, food moves through the mouth into the esophagus and into the stomach to be digested, with the help of gastric juice containing acid that is produced by certain cells in the stomach.

There is a valve at the bottom of the esophagus that connects it to the stomach, and it works like a gate so that it allows food to enter from the esophagus to the stomach, but prevents its return with acidic gastric juices to the esophagus.
But sometimes a defect occurs in this valve (lower esophageal sphincter )and it does not close properly, and it leads to acid flowing backwards towards the esophagus and then the throat and mouth, so the feeling of heartburn and pain occurs.
There are many habits that a person practices that may be a major cause of stomach acid reflux (heartburn ) without his knowledge that it may make the pain of heartburn more severe for him, and on an ongoing basis.
the reasons :
• Cigarette smoking: it contains chemicals that are believed to cause the valve to loosen up and negatively affect the lining of the digestive system and thus cause heartburn.
• Some types of foods: such as coffee, tea, Cola drinks, and chocolate, all of which work to relax the valve and also stimulate the production of acid from the stomach. Citrus fruits, tomatoes, and spicy food also cause heartburn to some people because they affect the lining of the esophagus.
• Eating Styles : For example, neglecting to have breakfast meal and then eating a large meal at once increases the pressure inside the stomach and leads to heartburn, also lying down immediately after eating makes things worse.
• Obesity: People who suffer from obesity have large stomach and increased pressure cause to flow of gastric acid from the stomach to the esophagus.
• Some medications: There are some medications that are known to negatively affect the lining of the esophagus and digestive system, such as aspirin and ibuprofen.
This problem can be eliminated by changing food patterns and taking medications that are available without a prescription. It is recommended to see a doctor if the condition recurs more than twice a week, or if it is accompanied by vomiting, nausea, or chest pain.
